The East Mississippi Business Development Corporation is a not-for-profit organization that serves as the Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development agency for Meridian and Lauderdale County.

Mission

The EMBDC is to empower a diverse leadership culture to achieve economic wealth through excellence in education, new investment, and the nurturing of existing business and industry.

SERVICES

The EMBDC serves the City of Meridian, Town of Marion, Lauderdale County, and over 500 dues-paying members.

  • Highways

    We have been recognized as having the fifth-best highway system in the US and the best among Southeastern states. That has contributed to our ranking as also having a very competitive market for freight

  • Meridian Regional Airport

    The Meridian Regional Airport's 10,003-foot runway, with two instrument landing system approaches, is the longest public-use runway in the state. The airport provides commercial air service by American Eagle ExpressJet. Meridian Aviation, the local airport fixed base operator for general aviation, offers both fuel and maintenance services on a 16-hour-a-day schedule.

  • Railroads

    Four rail carriers serve our city. Two are major Class I railroads, Norfolk Southern and Kansas City Southern, and two are short-line railroads, Meridian Southern and Meridian & Bigbee.
